09/14/2010 8:05 PM ET
DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers today released their 2011 home schedule, which features 81 games at Comerica Park, including contests against American League Central Division rivals, Interleague games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets and San Francisco Giants, as well as four-game series versus both the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

A charter member of the American League since 1901, the Tigers will begin their 111th season on the road as they visit the New York Yankees for a three-game series, March 31-April 3 at Yankee Stadium. MLB adopted the recommendation of The Commissioner's Special Committee for On-Field Matters to begin the regular season earlier and mid-week to avoid playing World Series games in November.

The Tigers will play their 12th home opener at Comerica Park on Friday, April 8 when they host the Kansas City Royals 1:05 p.m. The weekend series against the Royals continues April 9-10, before the Texas Rangers visit Detroit for a three-game series April 11-13.

The Tigers welcome the New York Yankees for a four-game series May 2-5, while the Boston Red Sox visit for a four-game weekend series May 26-29. The Tigers host an Interleague homestand for nine games June 24-July 3, beginning with a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks June 24-26. The New York Mets then visit Comerica Park for three games June 28-30 and are followed into town by the San Francisco Giants for a three-game set July 1-3.
