Hitting Ability:Gose has a line-drive swing to the gaps and it was on display at the showcase.
Power:He's shown some glimpses of power, but it's something that has gotten him into trouble at times.
Running Speed:Gose is a plus runner. He had the event's best 60-yard dash time at 6.5 seconds.
Base Running:While learning the nuances of base stealing usually comes later, Gose does have some awareness on the basepaths.
Arm Strength:Also a pitcher, Gose has plus arm strength and has been clocked as high as 95 mph off the mound.
Fielding:Gose is an outstanding defender who makes exciting plays with regularity.
Range:He can cover a lot of ground in the outfield.
Physical Description:Only listed as 5-foot-11, he's bigger than you'd think. Gose is an athletic and muscular toolsy outfielder. He has the chance to be the complete package.
Medical Update:Healthy.
Strengths:Tools to spare with plus speed and arm strength right now and plenty of projection to be had.
Weaknesses:The flashes of power sometime cause Gose to muscle up too much. When he tries to get big, he exposes holes in his swing.
Summary:Depending on how he develops, Gose could fit one of two types. He could be a Corey Patterson type, one who flashes brilliance and hits for power but strikes out a lot. He also could be a Juan Pierre type, a leadoff hitter who sprays line drives and steals bases. Either way, someone will draft the Urban Youth Academy product based on his projectability. Gose has also drawn plenty of interest for his ability on the mound, throwing as hard as 97 mph from the left side, but he’s been fairly adamant about wanting to be considered an outfielder only.
