DETROIT -- The Tigers placed reliever Fernando Rodney on the 15-day disabled list, because of tendinitis in his right forearm, prior to Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
Nate Robertson, Tuesday's starter, replaced Rodney on the 25-man roster. Robertson had been on the DL since June 7 with a "tired arm."
It is Rodney's second trip to the DL this season. He was also on the DL from May 21 to June 5 with biceps tendinitis.
Rodney said he wasn't sure if he will need only the minimum amount of the time on the DL or will need longer to completely heal.
"Just take a rest and get ready," Rodney said before Tuesday's game.
Rodney has also experienced neck and shoulder problems this season.
