Indians Press Release
Cleveland Indians donate $54,070 to Guidestone in tonight's "Fill the House for Charity"
Tonight’s total marks the largest number of tickets sold and donation in the history of the Fill the House program
CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians community outreach initiative, “Fill the House for Charity,” is a partnership between the Indians organization and 12 non-profit service agencies. Each non-profit agency has a designated Tuesday home game to celebrate and promote their mission at Progressive Field. Tonight’s efforts allowed Guidestone (formerly Berea Children’s Home) to raise $54,070 for their cause.
The Indians donated $5 of each ticket sold by the participating non-profit organization back to the charity. Also, $1 from every overall ticket sold for tonight’s game was donated to Guidestone. Guidestone’s total tickets sold and donation amount for tonight’s game is the largest in the history of the Fill the House for Charity program. The charity sold the most tickets in 2011 as well. Since its inaugural season in 2009, this initiative has raised more than $1.68 million in monetary and in-kind donations for the participating Ohio non-profits.
The Indians also provided promotional support to help raise awareness for the Charity and its event date. This included radio and TV network promotions, a webpage dedicated to Fill the House for Charity− indians.com/fillthehouse− inclusion in the game day’s Batter Up! program, a scoreboard feature showcasing the organization, various Indians autographed auction items and inclusion in pregame activities.
Included in today’s pregame festivities was Logan Petrus throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, “Play Ball” kid Joey Ziegler, and Kyle Primous performing our National Anthem.
