KANSAS CITY - Prior to tonight's game at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed infielder Orlando Hudson on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 16) with a contusion of the first metatarsal joint in his left foot, placed left-handed pitcher Leyson Septimo on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 14) with left biceps inflammation, reinstated first baseman Paul Konerko from the seven-day disabled list and recalled left-handed pitcher Hector Santiago from Class AAA Charlotte.
Konerko, 36, has been on the disabled list since August 10 with a concussion after being struck in the head by a Jarrod Dyson elbow while covering first base on August 7 vs. the Royals. Konerko is hitting .316 (119-377) with 18 home runs and 54 RBI in 101 games this season.
Santiago, 24, is 2-1 with a 3.66 ERA (16 ER/39.1 IP), four saves and 43 strikeouts over 32 relief appearances this season. He went 1-0 and did not allow an earned run in three starts (14.2 IP) with Charlotte after being optioned on July 30.
Hudson, 34, is batting .182 (20-110) with a home run and 11 RBI over 36 games (30 starts) with Chicago this season. He left Wednesday night's game at Toronto in the sixth inning after fouling a ball off his left foot.
Septimo, 27, is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA (6 ER/9.0 IP) and eight strikeouts over 12 appearances this season. This is his first career stint on the disabled list.
