ST. PETERSBURG -- Derek Jeter plans to rejoin the big league team in New York on Thursday and will address the media during a news conference at Yankee Stadium that can be watched live on MLB.com.

Jeter learned last week that he had suffered another fracture in his surgically repaired left ankle and will not play in a Major League game before the All-Star break. He has not spoken publicly since the diagnosis.

Manager Joe Girardi said his understanding is that Jeter has again been fitted for a walking boot.

Jeter traveled to Charlotte, N.C., this week to be seen by Dr. Robert Anderson, who performed his initial surgery after he fractured the ankle in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.
