Rockies activate OF Dexter Fowler from 15-day disabled list
Club options outfielder Corey Dickerson to Triple-A
DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have activated outfielder Dexter Fowler from the 15-day disabled list. In addition, to create the open roster spot the Rockies have optioned outfielder Corey Dickerson. Fowler (#24) will be available for tonight's game vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (8:10 p.m. MDT) at Dodger Stadium.
Fowler, 27, made his third consecutive Opening Day start this year and hit .291 (75-for-258) with 13 doubles, 2 triples, 10 home runs, 26 RBI and 49 runs in 70 games this season before being placed the disabled list with a right hand bone bruise. Fowler has led off for the Rockies in 43 games, while batting .301 (50-for-166) with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, 19 RBI and 32 runs. His on-base percentage (.411) from the leadoff spot both is the second-highest among National League hitters, while his slugging percentage (.506) is third and batting average is fourth. In 618 career Major League games, Fowler owns a .274 average (572-for-2091) with 115 doubles, 52 triples, 38 home runs, 194 RBI and 354 runs scored.
Dickerson, 24, made his Major League debut on June 22 at Washington as he went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and a RBI. In 15 games with the Rockies, he has gone 7-for-33 (.212) with 4 doubles, 2 RBI and 5 runs while appearing in all three outfield positions. Dickerson began the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs where he batted .386 (107-for-277) with 19 doubles, 13 triples, 9 home runs, 38 RBI, 56 runs and a 1.075 OPS (.429 OBP, .646 SLG)..
