Tigers acquire Brooks Brown from Arizona Diamondbacks

The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has acquired righthanded pitcher Brooks Brown from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for catcher James Skelton.
Brown started 26 games for Double A Mobile during the 2008 season, compiling a 6-15 record, 4.18 ERA (144.1IP/67ER) and 112 strikeouts to earn Southern League all-star honors. He started seven games for Phoenix in the Arizona Fall League following the season, posting a 2-3 record and fanning 19 batters in 25.2 innings pitched.
Selected with the 34th overall pick by the Diamondbacks in the 2006 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Brown has compiled a 16-24 record, 3.66 ERA (314.1IP/128ER) and 270 strikeouts in three professional seasons.
Brown's contract will be assigned to Double A Erie.
Skelton was selected by the Diamondbacks from the Tigers in the major league phase of the Rule 5 Draft on December 11, 2008, and following the trade he will remain with the Diamondbacks organization. He saw action with both Single A Lakeland and Double A Erie in 2008, hitting a combined .303 (90x297) with five home runs and 34 RBI in 87 games.
