Guillen leaves game with groin strain

Shortstop listed as day-to-day, replaced by Perez

ST. PETERSBURG -- Tigers shortstop Carlos Guillen left Wednesday's game after grounding out to shortstop in the sixth inning. He was replaced by Neifi Perez on defense in the bottom of the same frame.

Tigers officials said Guillen had a mild left groin strain. He is listed as day-to-day.

Guillen was 1-for-3 with an RBI single at the time of the injury. For the season, the 10-year veteran is hitting .317 (60-for-189) with 14 doubles, four triples, six home runs and 37 RBIs, which is second on the team only to Magglio Ordonez (48).
