As part of Detroit's celebration of Fan Appreciation Weekend and its record-breaking attendance for this year, the Dietrichs -- Mike and Lorrain, son Trevor and daughter Brooke -- were selected as the honorary record-breaking fans from Thursday's game. Their prize was not only a trip to Sunday's game, including a meet and greet with mascot PAWS and team staff and the ceremonial first pitch for Trevor, but an impressive thank-you package.
Among the gifts was a certificate for four 27-game ticket plans for 2009, three autographed photos of manager Jim Leyland along with Magglio Ordonez and Justin Verlander, a baseball autographed by Curtis Granderson, Brandon Inge and Placido Polanco, an Edgar Renteria autographed bat, a kids jersey of Verlander and Inge, caps, dugout jackets and a new LG Chocolate 3 mobile phone.
Thursday's attendance pushed the Tigers' season mark to 3,081,908, topping last year's record of 3,047,139. They added to the record in the final three home games, finishing at 3,202,645 for the year.
