Reyes safe at second after Tigers' challenge in ninth

Stolen base begins Blue Jays' rally to tie game, send it to extra innings

TORONTO -- The Tigers lost a challenge during a Blue Jays ninth-inning rally when Jose Reyes stole second base with nobody out.

Reyes reached base with a leadoff single off Joe Nathan, then took off on Nathan's 1-0 pitch to Melky Cabrera. Though Eugenio Suarez made a decent effort at a swipe tag behind his body, the call stood that Reyes had reached the bag by then.

It was the second challenge lost in as many games by Ausmus, who had won 16 of his 25 challenges going into the series. By contrast, it was Reyes' 22nd stolen base in 23 attempts.

Reyes moved to third base on Cabrera's ensuing fly ball to deep right field, then scored the tying run on Dioner Navarro's ground-ball single through the right side.
