    The San Diego Padres will honor the recipient of the third Hispanic Heritage Comunidad Award for 2016 in a pregame ceremony prior to tonight's game vs. the Baltimore Orioles. Janett Gaytan, a community activist and aspiring architect, has been selected as the recipient of the award by members of the Padres' Hispanic Community Advisory Council (HCAC). Each Comunidad Award winner will also receive $1,000 from the Padres Foundation to be donated to the charity of their choice.

    The San Diego Padres today selected 30 players on the third and final day of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft and 43 players overall in the Draft, including SS Quinn Hoffman out of Cathedral Catholic High School (CA) in the 36th round, son of Padres legend Trevor Hoffman.

    The San Diego Padres today have announced they have acquired right-handed pitcher Erik Johnson and infielder Fernando Tatis Jr. from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher James Shields and cash considerations. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.
