The Texas Rangers this afternoon announced that the club has purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Cesar Ramos from Triple-A Round Rock. Right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez has been optioned to Round Rock to make room on the active roster for Ramos, and right-handed pitcher Keone Kela has been moved from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list to create a spot on the 40-man roster.
Klein will be in his second stint with the Rangers, as he was also in the bullpen from Opening Day-April 12. Klein did not appear for the Express after being optioned on April 13, although he was scheduled to pitch on Friday.
Martinez, 25, will be in his first stint with the Rangers this season. He has gone 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA (4 ER/10.2 IP) over 2 games/starts with the Express this season, as Pacific Coast League opponents have batted .302 (13-43) with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Beltre has been one of the American League's top all-around players in his five-plus seasons as a Ranger, producing a composite line of .309/.358/.515 with 137 homers and 468 RBI in 744 games and winning three consecutive Rangers Player of the Year Awards from 2012-14.
The Texas Rangers today announced that left-handed pitcher Alex Claudio has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. Claudio (#58) will be in uniform for Wednesday afternoon's game in Seattle.
