Tigers tailspin continues

Justin Verlander, whose eight of 18 dingers served up this season have been hit by the Tribe, let four leave the yard on his watch before he got the hook after 5 2/3 innings. Shortstop Ramon Santiago contributed three hits and two RBIs, but the Tigers fell short as Cleveland's lead in the Central reached 6 1/2 games.

The big blasts continued on Tuesday for the Indians. Ryan Garko connected with a solo homer in the second inning, Travis Hafner followed with a monster three-run shot in the third and Victor Martinez went deep to put the Tribe ahead in the sixth. For good measure in the frame, Franklin Gutierrez added a two-run tater.
