Tigers fall short
Photos
Mariners 2, Tigers 1
Lucas French gave up two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings on Thursday. (Duane Burleson/AP)
The Tigers were, for the fourth time since the All-Star break, on the wrong end of a one-run game as their offense mustered just three hits against the Mariners. One of those hits was an RBI triple off the bat of Curtis Granderson in the eighth, but it was too little, too late.
