MANAGERIAL/COACHING CAREER: Mark Mark Berry is in his 30th season in the organization as a player, coach or manager, his 15th consecutive season on the Major League coaching staff and his 10th season as third base coach...also serves as the spring training and regular season daily coordinator...was named third base coach on Dec. 23, 2003...prior to that appointment, spent most of the previous five seasons as the club's bullpen catcher...went to 1999 spring training scheduled for a stint as hitting coach at Class AAA Indianapolis but remained with the big league club as it broke camp...worked as bullpen catcher until he was named bench coach on July 28, 2003...prior to the 1999 season managed for seven seasons in the Reds' minor league system following two seasons as a coach...as a manager posted a 506-463 (.522) career record while winning two league championships and three division titles...reached post-season play in four of those seven seasons...in 1996 at Chattanooga was named Southern League Manager of the Year in his first season at Class AA...in 1997 was named the Southern League's Best Managerial Prospect by Baseball America...began the 1990 season playing for Charleston in the South Atlantic League but retired in June and joined the Wheelers' coaching staff...a month later joined the coaching staff at Plant City in the Gulf Coast League...in 1991 was pitching coach at Cedar Rapids in the Midwest League...began his managerial career with a Midwest League championship at Cedar Rapids in 1992 and a Carolina League title at Winston-Salem in '93...from 1996-98 managed three seasons at Chattanooga, won the division in '96 to earn his manager of the year award.

PLAYING CAREER: Was selected by the Reds in the sixth round of the June 1984 free-agent draft...was signed by Bill Clark...played seven seasons (1984-90) in the organization as a catcher and third baseman...in 1986 was Tampa's Most Valuable Player...in 1985 and 1987 was the organization's eighth-best prospect as named by Baseball America.

PERSONAL: In 1981 graduated from Hueneme High School in Oxnard, CA...played baseball at Oxnard Junior College and the University of Arkansas...along with wife Melissa and daughter Emily lives in Plant City, Fla.
