III National Title in 1979...was NCAA Div. III All-American in 1982... drafted by Cincinnati in 1981 but did not sign...his father, Bill, was also a catcher at Glassboro State, while his brothers (Dave and Rich) also played baseball there.
MANAGING/COACHING CAREER: Jeff is in his third season as the Mariners third base coach but his 12th season as Major League coach, overall...also responsible for catchers and running spring training...spent the 2010 season as Baltimore Orioles bench coach...was on Cleveland big league staff for previous eight years, including as bench coach (2007-2009)...began 2006 season as third base coach before moving to bench coach at mid-season...was first base coach for Tribe from 2003-2005...began first big league season (2002) as bench coach before moving to third base when manager changed...spent 2000-01 seasons as Indians minor league field coordinator...manager in Indians system from 1993-1999, including winning International League Title in 1998 with Buffalo (AAA)...began coaching career with Watertown (R) in 1993...was an area scout in Northern California/Northern Nevada in 1991-92.
PLAYING CAREER: Was selected by Houston in the 18th round of the June, 1982, draft... spent seven seasons in the Astros minor league system, including spending all of 1988 at Tucson (AAA)...spent most of 1989 season at Toledo (AAA) before reaching Majors with Detroit where he appeared in seven games...spent final year as a player (1990) with Columbus (AAA).
